“Can you repeat that?”: Bite-sized lessons with Premiere RushDiana Keeler Whether you’re teaching your Fall course remotely or you want to post a recap from class, Adobe's intuitive editing tool, Premiere Rush, is a fantastic way to make quick videos of important lesson topics. In this workshop, we’ll go over best practices for keeping your videos short, punchy and engaging while limiting your out-of-the-classroom workload. And who doesn't want that? Instead of watching a recording of a three-hour lecture, let your students see a quick video with options to pause and replay the important stuff as many times as they need. Form an orderly queue, everyone - this one's popular! |

I’m Overwhelmed!: How We Help Online Learners Manage their Reading and Research in Online ClassesJenae Cohn, Academic Technology Specialist, Stanford University & Wilson Tsu, Founder, PowerNotes In online learning environments, students are navigating a lot of information. From the infrastructure of the online class itself to the content that students are asked to read, we need to acknowledge the importance of supporting students in adjusting to key differences involved in reading and researching online. Even under face-to-face teaching circumstances, students often feel overwhelmed when trying to find information from their online research, but that feeling can be compounded as we move to fully remote environments and all information that students need to learn must be navigated online. What are some ways to reduce these feelings of being overwhelmed? And how do we help students not only feel like their reading and research is more manageable, but also feel like they’re mastering and engaging with new concepts? In this session, we will engage in a conversation about helping online learners manage their reading and research in online classes. We will explore these ideas in the context of PowerNotes, a browser-based tool that helps students to curate material from across the Web and become stronger readers and researchers. |
